As the U.S. threatens our existence as a nation, the Conservative Party promises to defund and shut down the CBC. At the same time, the vast majority of Canadians want the CBC to continue.
Canadians recognize we need our national public broadcaster. That’s why we must stand together to defend the CBC because once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.
Please join thousands of other Canadians by asking all federal election candidates to stand up for the CBC.
Our national broadcaster has celebrated Canadian values for 89 years. It has helped to build the greatest country in the world. Pierre Poilievre wants to kill it because it holds people like him accountable.
A Conservative government established the CBC in 1936 to counter the influence of American culture.
Today’s Conservatives welcome American influence and domination. They want to extend government funding and access to the Parliamentary Press Gallery to extreme right-wing “content creators” while shutting the doors on the CBC.
Donald Trump and MAGA politicians are bullies who are threatening to steal our resources and force us to become the 51st state. We need our national public broadcaster now, more than ever, to keep Canadians connected and defend our culture and interests.
You cannot count on private media outlets. A Trump-connected New York hedge fund owns Postmedia. It controls most Canadian daily newspapers. Businesses have no interest in serving remote and rural communities, but the CBC does. Commercial media in the USA have sacrificed editorial integrity for the bottom line. From Facebook to The Washington Post, they have given in to Donald Trump’s threats.
Our goal is to protect the CBC, a broadcaster that champions Canadian values, tells our stories, and unites our country in so many ways. Please add your voice.
When you send this letter to political candidates, you signal that you want a strong independent public broadcaster.
Please note: you will not receive appeals asking you for money. Our goal is to save CBC and help protect Canadians from misinformation and the domination of American media that serves American interests. Thank you in advance for telling candidates how you feel about the CBC.
